Harp Lessons
At Hillnote Music, students are offered a $60 introductory lesson! You can meet your instructor, see what lessons will be like, and instructors can answer any of your questions or concerns. Contact us to schedule your introductory lesson today!
Hillnote Harp Academy is a semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer) tuition-based program. Fall and Spring Semesters include 15 private lessons, 1 studio class, 1 dress rehearsal, and 1 or more performances/recitals. It is recommended to contact Dr. Sarah or to schedule an introductory lesson before registering!
Whether it be private harp lessons in her home studio or university-level harp and music history courses, Dr. Sarah's greatest joy and passion is teaching music! No matter what age or what level of musical experience, Dr. Sarah is able to work with every student to help them reach their desired goals in music. Dr. Sarah has been teaching music for 25 years and holds Master and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Harp Performance and Musicology. Read Dr. Sarah's full biography here. Although previous musical study can certainly aid in a student’s advancement, it is not a requirement!
Harp lessons include instruction in technique, musicality, music theory, music history and can last 1-2 hours, 45 minutes, 30 minutes based on the student's age and level. Dr. Sarah always recommends weekly lessons to encourage consistency and discipline. Students have the opportunity to study standard solo, chamber, and orchestral/ensemble repertoire in a range of musical styles that interest them as well as many performance opportunities throughout the year in studio recitals, local festivals, retirement homes, churches, etc. The purchase of method and repertoire books will be required. All students must have a harp at home on which they can practice. To ensure that all students can get started quickly as possible, we have lever harps of varying sizes available through our Hillnote Harp Rental service, and Dr. Sarah is happy and eager to help her students locate and select an instrument to rent or own through our Hillnote Harp Sales service.
